A group of high school students from Santa Marina High partnered with the Coastal Cleanup Corps to organize a youth-led cleanup at Driftwood Beach. The students not only collected trash but also documented the types of waste found, contributing valuable data to our marine debris tracking initiative. Their enthusiasm and leadership inspired other young people to get involved in ocean conservation efforts. The event was part of a school-wide sustainability campaign and included presentations on plastic pollution and recycling. Teachers and parents praised the students for their initiative and teamwork. The data collected will be used in classroom projects and shared with local environmental agencies. This collaboration demonstrates how youth engagement can drive meaningful change in environmental protection.
